In 2014, The National Hockey League chose to partner with Change the Course (CtC) to signify their pledge to protect the future of the game and the communities in which the clubs play.
The NHL launched its Gallons for Goals program in 2011. For every goal scored throughout the regular season, the National Hockey League restores 1,000 gallons of water. As part of Gallons for Goals, the NHL activated the CtC campaign with fans and employees to restore water to nature.
How They Inspire
The NHL invited employees to text NHL to 77177 to restore 1,000 gallons of water in partnership with CtC.
Select teams have also invited fans to pledge to conserve by texting Wild or Ducks (Minnesota Wild; Anaheim Ducks) to 77177.
They also balance the water used at headquarters and in specific events such as the Stanley Cup.
The Impact They’re Making
Since 2011, the NHL’s contributions and fan activations allowed CtC to restore 88 million gallons of freshwater.
